Thanks to the equipment and extensive experience of the conductor,
S.R.C. Engineering laboratory is able to supply a wide range of
services, among which is the study of raw materials for body slips
and glazes.
S.R.C. laboratory can operate on the following materials: calcareous
earthenware materials; calcareous / feldspathic earthenware materials;
feldspathic earthernware materials; fire clay; fine fire clay; vitreous
china; porcelain; steatite; cordierite with raw materials and chemicals
of any origin.
Moreover, S.R.C. laboratory is able to define composition of porous or
greified body slips to be fired from 1000°C to 1300°C and composition of
transparent white, coloured, brilliant, mat satinised, speckled, metallic
and craquelé glazes.
It is well known how important the initial choice of raw
materials is in developing a composition both for body slips
and glazes. It is quite common that for logistical reasons
the first raw materials to be tested are those easily available
on site, on the other hand it is sometimes not so easy to
introduce these raw materials into ceramic composition with
satisfactory results.
Often the secret is a masterly mixture of local raw materials
and others with constant and well-known characteristics which
guarantee steady behaviour and cost control. So for each raw
material tested a full range of controls are carried out, for example,
